Early Careers Manager

We have a current opportunity for a Early Careers Manager on a permanent basis working for a leading global insurance firm.

The position will be based in the City, London and offers agile and remote working.

Job Summary

The firm are looking for an Early Careers Manager to establish our strategy and approach to early careers in the UK. Working with their US counterpart, the successful candidate will have responsibility for leading the UK specific programme and delivering projects where required.

Key Responsibilities

Develop relationships with stakeholders across Culture and People and within the business to develop our approach to early careers at the firm in the UK

Partner with stakeholders to determine the strategic direction of early careers talent for all UK programme touch points, including which teams to prioritise first

Asses the best way to address early careers including evaluating the benefit of implementing a graduate programme vs apprenticeships

Develop the internships programme in the UK, ensuring that this is used as an effective pipeline for both early careers programmes and entry level roles within the firm

Manage intern alumni, keep them engaged and ensure that they are viewed as part of the the firm community

Work with the wider L&D team to develop an internal pathways programme to achieve suitable retention of the best junior talent at the firm

Develop collaborative relationships with external partners and internal stakeholders to implement new programs and continued learning initiatives based on business needs

Design and execute on strategies to continuously improve the candidate experience and engagement throughout early career initiatives

Monitor the effectiveness and return on investment in early career initiatives, reporting as required

Design and execute the resourcing strategy for early careers in the UK in a way that is aligned with the global agenda whilst also meeting the needs of local market nuances

Create and execute employer brand and marketing strategies for the UK ensuring alignment with global brand and employer brand strategy and standards, while addressing local market nuances

Provide direction to key stakeholders on local market needs and requirements to ensure promotion of programmes, messaging and visual identity increases brand awareness, and strength of candidate pipeline across the UK, whilst integrating into the overall early careers proposition.

Maintain links and connections to the US programme, and any other programmes, to ensure consistency

Once developed, responsible for the firm's yearly intake including,

Driving the recruitment and employer branding and collaborating with external partners, to attract and maintain a diverse talent pipeline

Collaborating with colleagues across the business to ensure a smooth onboarding experience for all participants

Act as a mentor and coach for participants attending the programme, supporting with career development discussions and broader employee matters

On conclusion of the one-year programme, engage with teams to ensure a smooth transition to the relevant business area, ensuring they have a great offboarding experience

Work in close partnership with external bodies, such as Lloyds, Future Skills, CII, to develop technical learning paths and training

Support the education of business leaders and the C&P team on our early careers approach

Person specification

The firm are looking for candidates with a passion for Early Careers, with excellent communication skills, and the ability to professionally interact and influence across all levels of seniority both inside and outside of the organisation. The successful candidate should have previous experience in a similar role, although experience working for an insurance company is not critical. They are seeking someone who can develop strategy whilst also guiding, mentoring, and developing junior employees, who enjoys working closely with others, and is enthusiastic about embracing change and innovation.
