Chief People Officer

The UK Infrastructure Bank (UKIB) is the new, government-owned policy bank, focused on increasing infrastructure investment across the United Kingdom.

The bank will partner with the private sector and local government to finance infrastructure development to help the UK government create a net zero economy and drive local and regional economic growth.

The Chief People Officer is critical to ensuring the long-term success of the bank and will play a significant leadership role, reporting directly to the CEO.

The appointee will be expected to:

  • Uphold high standards of integrity to support the Board, CEO and Executive Committee colleagues by instilling the appropriate culture, values, and behaviours.
  • Build a recruitment strategy that attracts and retains talent, recommending innovative ways in which the bank can compete effectively for top talent at all levels. Recruitment and development of the bank from start-up phase to c.300 people over time.
  • Develop a programme of learning and development attuned to the realities of a growing bank. Design the career model articulating its employee value proposition, ensuring the bank’s brand is attractive, inclusive, and supportive within a high-performance culture.
  • Work closely with the CEO to create an effective leadership team dynamic, ensuring the delivery of the business strategy. Acting as confidant(e) to the CEO and sounding board for executive colleagues and colleagues across the business.

The required experience and personal qualities include:

  • A track record of collaborating with a CEO and executive colleagues as part of a business leadership team as an HR leader.
  • Experience setting up and/or scaling a new organisation or business.
  • Proven credentials in creating forward-thinking talent strategies for the attraction, development, and retention of colleagues.
  • Proven ability to build diverse teams and inclusive cultures.
