Manchester Metropolitan is one of the largest universities in the UK, located at the heart of a vibrant and ambitious city. We trace our roots back to the early part of the nineteenth century, when institutions were established to deliver skills and education for local people, improving livelihoods and the economy. Today, we remain at the heart of this great global city, continuing to play our part in its community and economy, through our teaching, research and innovation, but with impact across the UK and partnerships that span the globe.
The University is committed to creating a truly world-class learning environment. Our education strategy places student experience and student success at the heart of the institution, and we focus our research around areas of strength where we have global impact. We continue to use our strong financial position to invest in people, holding the bar high on appointments and developing talent.
As the University continues to innovate in pursuit of excellence, we are now seeking an exceptional Chief People Officer (CPO). A critical member of the Executive Team, you will have Board-level accountability for driving forward a people agenda that supports delivery of the University’s priorities. You will be responsible for delivering high-performing human resources services, and leading a refreshed approach to organisational development, reward and recognition. You will work with great colleagues across the faculties and high-performing professional services, in an exciting, collegial and supportive environment. We are currently developing an ambitious 2030 vision and strategy for the next five years, and you will work alongside the Vice-Chancellor, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Chief Operating Officer and Finance Director in delivering our direction and priorities.
The successful candidate will possess significant HR & OD leadership experience, gained at a senior level within a large, complex, people-focused organisation. A proven ability to engage effectively with a broad range of stakeholders will be essential, as will a demonstrable track record of developing creative strategies that deliver progressive organisational change. A strategic thinker, with a high degree of integrity and excellent judgement, you will also have a genuine commitment to the mission and ethos of the University.
