One of a team of HR Business Partners providing strategic and high-level operational HR advice and guidance to designated area/s of responsibility. Work collaboratively with functional senior management to help shape, guide and deliver effective outcomes in line with strategic aims. Work with and support the Head of HR, the other HR Business Partners and the wider HR Team to provide a high quality and professional HR service.

Description

As the HR Business Partner, key responsibilities include:

  • Provide support and advice to ensure that Company policies are up to date which underpin the decision making in all aspects of our work.
  • Supporting cross functional working to ensure key colleagues/stakeholders are kept up to date on key developments which may impact the strategy.
  • Support, coach and guide managers and other key colleagues/stakeholders on people related matters in the business.
  • Work with senior managers and the executive team to deliver professional and creative HR solutions and strategies which are aligned to strategic aims.
  • Establish effective working relationships with managers and other key colleagues/stakeholders across the business.
  • Provide support and advice on the talent pipeline, workforce and succession planning to ensure establishments, staff profiling and skills meets changing requirements.
  • Support managers in planning and delivering effective continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency's and functional performance.
  • Identify, agree and deliver opportunities to improve HR service and minimise risk in conjunction with the Head of HR and the wider HR Team.
  • Undertake project work or participate in cross functional working groups as identified and agreed by the Head of HR or Director of People and Engagement.
  • To use HR data, including establishment data, to proactively identify business needs and collaborate with key colleagues/stakeholders to develop and deliver continuous improvements, aligned to the business strategy.
  • Working with key colleagues/stakeholders and external providers, on the appropriate management of absence cases, thereby reducing cost and understanding the resourcing impact on the business.
  • Take ownership of personal development and sharing best practise.

Profile

As the HR Business Partner you will demonstrate:

  • In depth knowledge of generalist HR best practice and up to date employment legislation.
  • Extensive experience of resolving complex casework and maintaining good employee relations.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Able to work independently under pressure, use initiative, manage development of self and team members.
  • Excellent coaching, influencing and negotiation skills.
  • Strong business acumen and commercial awareness.
  • Experience of delivering workforce and succession planning.
  • CIPD qualified (or equivalent) or working towards.
  • Experience of rail or other unionised environments.
  • Spoken and written Welsh.
  • Experience of leading and managing a team to deliver a quality professional service.
  • Experience of project management.
  • Experience of working in a unionised environment.
