Head of Talent and Diversity

A newly created Head of Talent & Diversity role is available with my client, a growing national law firm. The Head of Talent & Diversity will have responsibility for designing and delivering a people development strategy that enompasses talent management, learning, leadership development, performance management and culture, with diversity and inclusion at its heart.

Key responsibilties:

  • Build a leadership and management concept appropriate for the firm

  • Embed competencies and behaviours into assessment for performance and promotion

  • Take a lead in talent processes including career development pathways, promotion to leadership, high potential identification, talent pipeline, development planning and capability assessment

  • Build tools for managers and individuals to be able to assess progress, make them accessible and easy to use

  • Embed changes across people, processes and systems with a focus on inclusion, people experience and diversity of voice

  • Build diversity initiatives such as reverse mentoring and sponsorship into the firm's talent programmes to with clear milestones

  • Develop strategic partnerships with 3rd party organisations such as Mindful Business Charter, Women in Leadership in Law, the Race at Work Charter and Stonewall, to ensure leading thinking is incorporated;

  • Report metrics focused on development progress, diversity and inclusion across the firm to ensure that diverse talent is part of the strategic agenda for the firm


  • A broad talent and learning background with experience of successfully embedding diversity & inclusion programmes

  • Experience of developing tailored approaches to capability and behavioural assessment and development

  • Experience of design and implementation of leadership and management development programs

  • Experience of leading change

  • Ability to influence at a senior level

  • Ability to demonstrate high levels of resilience and emotional intelligence.
