We’re the burger restaurant with the uncomplicated formula: burgers and fries cooked to perfection, with no frozen ingredients. And we’ve stuck to the same ‘perfect and serve’ philosophy since our family business began in 1986. Now, over 20 years later, we have over 1,500 locations in the US and over 100 restaurants in the UK all of which were opened in the last 7 years - and we’re just getting started! But we’re still as much a family business as we were when we first started out. Being a family means we look after each other. We have fun. We have tons of integrity. We’re enthusiastic. We’re competitive. And we just get it done – whatever the challenge. We call it being made of the Right Stuff.
Being made of the Right Stuff also means we’re committed to providing our people with the right learning and development opportunities so they know that while they’re on the frontline looking after our customers, we’re hard at work making sure they have everything they need to keep their career on the right path – and that’s where the role of the Head of Learning and Development comes in.
As the Head of Learning & Development, you’ll lead the design and delivery of L&D initiatives that’ll help our people and business achieve our stretching capability targets. The experience you’ve gained working in a multi-site business, ideally F&B, means you know that continuous development of leadership capability is key to unlocking performance at store level, which is why we’ll need you to effectively plan, deliver and evaluate engaging L&D programmes that’ll equip our people with the skill, insight and confidence that’ll help them understand the benefits of positive leadership, good performance management and communication.
At Five Guys we believe in the value of getting it done, so we’ll need you to deliver L&D support that has clear benefits for learners which they’d describe as challenging, fun and provides the right stuff to help make them better at what they do. You’ll need a deep insight into designing effective L&D programmes that you’ll align to our career path, allowing our people to take charge of their own development and ensure they have access to the right support, at the right time.
You’ll need to be comfortable challenging conventional thinking and have the ability to positively influence stakeholders. We are a people led business, which is why we think this is the right opportunity for an L&D professional who wants to make a positive difference on the lives of our people and our customers – if you do too, you’re probably made of the Right Stuff to be the Head of Learning and Development at Five Guys.
