At Worcestershire County Council, we are unashamedly ambitious for our local population. We are passionate about delivering the best quality of life for every member of our community, and the public services that we deliver must be representative of this vision. As such, it is imperative that we have a highly skilled and motivated workforce – meaning that the role of our newly-created HR, OD and Engagement team has never been more important.

Following a recent restructure, we are making a significant investment in our HR, OD & Engagement function as we shape a forward-looking team who will drive workforce change across the organisation. This extended leadership team will establish the best possible working practices, and influence behavioural change at every level, providing a myriad of valuable opportunities. Join us in this high-profile challenge, and you will play an essential role in championing improvements and implementing a workforce plan that matches the future needs of our locality.

Taking the lead in your designated business areas, you will be at the heart of bold change as you develop and implement innovative HR initiatives. Highlighting areas for improvement and driving performance and productivity, you will guide senior managers back to the tools and practices that have been put in place, seeing to it that the right processes are being followed and that the desired results are being achieved. While you will constructively challenge colleagues, you will also be a supportive advocate in upskilling the teams.  As a mentor and a role model, you will maintain oversight of the bigger picture, while embedding yourself firmly in the workings of various service areas to help us achieve our business objectives.

This is a fascinating chance to build relationships and networks across the organisation, identifying areas that need improvement. As a proactive problem-solver, you will use your exceptional communication and influencing skills to build trust & capability within our workforce. While a background in the public sector is not necessary, you will have significant experience of delivering large-scale HR change or transformation programmes in a multidisciplinary team. Confident in your ability to use data to shape insight, you will understand the importance of shaping streamlined, standardised processes. Crucially, you will enjoy building partnerships with stakeholders at all levels.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a tangible difference to the way we work. And while you are ensuring the ongoing success of our workforce, we will see to it that you enjoy an equally appealing employment prospect. From sector-leading training through to the chance to pursue alternative avenues across the business, we will help you achieve your long-term goals. You will also benefit from a competitive benefits package, and we can offer a genuinely flexible working environment.
