HR Analytics - Manager

The Role

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a particular interest in and passion for People analytics and insights. 

As the People Analytics & Insights Manager you report into the Head of People Analytics and will be accountable for all insights and analytics on our extraordinary talent here at KPMG. This is a critical role which requires exceptional levels of accuracy, quality and integrity in how you manage important and sensitive data about our talented people.

It will be your job to constantly improve the system and insights to enable our leaders to make the right decisions at the right time, to continuously improve the way we lead and support our extraordinary people.

Excellent organisation, communication, problem solving skills and an ambition to share knowledge will also be required to succeed in this role. The successful candidate will have hands on experience within a busy environment, resolving problems and escalating with a clear accurate assessment of the situation, range of options and recommendation, where required.

The successful candidate will be an integral part of the People Technology teams. As such, they will be expected to work in Watford with some occasional travel into CSQ.

Key Responsibilities

‒ To automate as much of our analytic practices as possible and provide the Firm with accurate, insightful management information on which to make decisions about our extraordinary people

‒ Respond to ad hoc requests for data/insights in a rapid and accurate manner, whilst protecting the integrity of the data at all times and escalating where appropriate, to ensure no sensitive data is released to a stakeholder it should not be

‒ Apply statistical techniques and critical thinking to identify themes, trends and issues to ultimately generate insights and recommendations that inform decision-making and action planning to drive real business results and value

‒ Gather and analyse data, using advanced statistical models and continuously learning about new ways to mine data and gather meaningful information out of the increasing amount of data available to us, to help us understand our internal workforce, our potential external future workforce and know how we can best manage our employees to drive real business results and value

‒ Build hypothesis and test assumptions re: strategic people, organizational or business challenges

‒ Establishes credibility by demonstrating an understanding and keeping current on Talent Analytic trends, research and tools. Generates innovative ideas to employ in deliverables

‒ Analyses and clearly presents data and other information to identify significant trends or key issues, provides recommendations and makes presentations on trends, forecasts, supplies, predicts future potentials

‒ Awareness of data privacy and legal issues for escalation to Manager if necessary

‒ Performance Manage and Mentor – Jr and Sr. Data Analysts, ensuring they a have a defined career path and investment in terms of growing skillset and exposure to application of advance analytics along with efficiency in BAU reporting


The Skills & Experience/ Person

‒ Good operational experience or knowledge with HR processes and systems related to workforce reporting, recruiting, learning, performance management and overall people data 

‒ Ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders and priorities in a matrix environment

‒ High level of competency in manipulating and interpreting data for the purposes of analytics and insights. Strong database & data management/interpretation skills, strong technical skill and ability to learn online systems

‒ Constructive, proactive ‘can do’ approach to resolving all problems with a level of maturity and management experience, to handle even complex, stressful situations in a calm, professional and effective manner

‒ Extremely numerate and analytical thinking, with data analysis skills with the ability to monitor and manage high visibility projects and resources

‒ Capable of operating effectively day to day with minimal supervision, exercising sound judgement, decision making and persuasion skills when required whilst referring to management when appropriate

‒ Proven experience working in analytical, data modelling, advance analytics – Ideally within HR

‒ Previous experience on working and demonstrable skillset in applying advance analytics with programming languages like Python, R, etc. along application of a defined data transformation strategy – using tools like Alteryx, SQL etc.

‒ Advanced skill level in Microsoft office applications in particular Microsoft Excel, VBA, & Access

‒ Previous demonstrable skills using visualisation tools like Power BI, Qlik Sense, and Tableau etc. would be advantages 

‒ Enthusiasm and energy to drive forward day to day delivery obligations and initiate change where required

‒ Collaborative inclusive style, will to work effectively with colleagues across the People function

‒ Ability to manage and prioritise workload from a variety of different sources
