Joining as part of a new streamlined leadership team, you’ll ensure we have the people, talent and capabilities we need to improve and transform services in a sustainable way. With a brief that covers employee relations, trade unions, advisory services, recruitment and transactional services, you’ll lead a team of HR Business Managers and associated consultancy staff to ensure we deliver a workforce fit for a 21st century city where every child, citizen and place matters.
A key part of your role will be to enable business transformation through significant cultural change.
You’ll have a sound track-record of strategic HR leadership in a large and complex organisation. This should include experience of driving large-scale programmes of change that improve the performance of people and processes. Capable of developing effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders including trade unions and outside agencies, you’ll have a good understanding of the statutory and regulatory responsibilities of local government.
You’ll combine this with business acumen, innovation, entrepreneurial flair and the ability to strategically manage human resources within challenging budgets. The pace will be rapid so you’ll need to be focused on delivery, but as priorities may change, flexibility and adaptability are also important.
