HR Manager - 12 month FTC

All dentists, dental nurses, dental technicians, clinical dental technicians, dental hygienists, dental therapists and orthodontic therapists must be registered with us to work in the UK. The GDC employs approximately 350 employees, mostly based in London. We also engage the services of over 500 associates and panellists who sit on our statutory committees, hearings and fitness to practise panels. From October 2018 a new Birmingham Office opened with circa 90 staff.  Further staff will be joining throughout 2019.

About the role:

We also engage the services of over 500 associates and panellists who sit on our statutory committees, hearings and fitness to practise panels.  During 2018 the GDC embarked on a two-year Estates Strategy to consolidate the number of offices and create a strategic corporate centre in London and an operational hub in Birmingham.  We are currently part way through the programme with the Birmingham office open, staff leaving London and new staff joining Birmingham. 

A 12-month fixed term post of HR Manager is required to be the London people lead for Estates and support the HR leadership team in delivering strategic and operational activity during change for the GDC and HR.

The HR team comprises 16 members primarily located in London but transitioning to a Birmingham led service during 2019.

About you:

You will have an excellent working knowledge of current employment law and best practice.  You will be at least partly CIPD qualified, while full CIPD qualification is desirable.

You will have experience of working at a managerial level in HR, providing proactive generalist operational HR support and advice to line managers and staff. Experience of advising on organisational change programmes and overseeing all aspects including consultation to implementation is essential. You will need to be able to analyse statistics and data to produce effective reports and management information.

You will need excellent listening and intuitive skills with the ability to make sound, well - considered decisions and judgements. You must be able to demonstrate evidence of instilling confidence and credibility at all levels when dealing with sensitive, challenging and difficult situations.

You will be a strong team player, capable of developing effective relationships with the HR team and at all levels within the organisation. You will also have a strong degree of emotional resilience, with the ability to work calmly under pressure.
