Student Recruitment Assistant Manager- Work Experience

Location: Bristol, Birmingham, Manchester, Glasgow, Watford.

Reporting to: Student Recruitment Attraction and Operations Manager

Contract: Maternity cover

Travel required.

Responsible for managing work experience programmes and other Student Recruitment projects such as Post Offer engagement activity, the Assistant Manager role plays a key part in a team that is dedicated to ensuring KPMG’s student recruitment programmes have a strong profile at target universities and that its recruitment process is leading within its industry. The Assistant Manager will ensure that they and their team provide an efficient, high quality, client focused service for applicants and the business alike, across a range of work experience programmes.


• Build effective and long term links within the Student Recruitment management team and with the business/programme leads
• Monitor and oversee effective and efficient management of candidate work experience pipelines to ensure that quality standards are met and consistently delivered
• Review and monitor pipeline performance and work with Officers to agree relevant actions and predict outcomes in order to meet target numbers for work experience programmes
• Provide regular and robust MI and reporting with a strong focus on diversity
• Liaise with Senior Management to ensure all business stakeholders are kept informed of recruitment numbers, work experience programmes and post offer engagement activity
• Oversee coordination of work experience inductions and events
• Management of offer process post Launch Pad events
• Effective resource allocation within the team
• Delivering and reviewing programme design, recruitment and delivery for all work experience programmes in conjunction with key stakeholders
• Delivering and reviewing programme design, recruitment and delivery for post offer activity in conjunction with key stakeholders

Attraction and Outreach

• Partner with stakeholders within the Recruitment Marketing team and across all business units to build strong relationships and manage outreach campaigns and projects to meet requirements effectively. This will include reporting and knowledge-sharing
• Ensure regular and robust monitoring and reporting is in place for all activity. This will include measuring ROI through application conversions, renege rates and feedback from students, stakeholders and volunteers
• Train and develop team on effective outreach delivery
• Plan resource for work experience events and ensure team are implementing as designed


• Performance management of a work experience Officer within the team
• Working with Officers and Coordinators outside of direct team across the country to ensure the successful implementation of relevant recruitment projects nationally

The Person

• Substantial experience in the student recruitment marketplace with strong understanding of how to plan, develop and deliver outreach and post offer campaigns, selection and assessment processes
• Experience in line management
• Proven track record of developing strong relationships with key stakeholders
• Drive and commitment
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a confident presenter
• Strategic and analytical thinker
• Good IT skills including Excel, Power Point, databases and internet research
• Excellent organisation and time management skills with a keen eye for detail
• Flexibility to work within a fast paced environment
• Forward thinking and proactive approach
• Self-motivated to work autonomously and also a good team player with the ability to adapt to change quickly and positively

Whilst this role is office based, you will be required to travel to KPMG offices and some events around the country – this will require overnight stays during campaign time and on an ad-hoc basis throughout the year. Intelligent working requests will be considered and some flexibility is likely to be possible.  However, it should be noted that demands of the role include cover on most days; and some travel around the UK with irregular hours particularly during campaign time.
