Finance Manager (KPMG Learning Services)

The Team 

We help Civil Servants make a difference to the lives of people right across the UK by ensuring that they have the learning and development interventions they need to do their jobs
KPMG currently leads a talented consortium of learning and development experts who work as a team to deliver a Core Curriculum and bespoke courses and programmes for civil servants across the UK and beyond  
You will be involved in the largest learning and development intervention in the UK that will fundamentally improve the way that civil servants learn
We have already delivered a comprehensive suite of learning solutions, utilising digital technology and blended learning solutions, to help the Civil Service achieve this ambitious transformation 

Job purpose 

Working within the Finance team, the Finance Manager is responsible for managing and reporting on the accounts of our apprenticeships business and providing appropriate support and advice to Heads of Function and the Managing Director to ensure financial targets are met and appropriate financial governance is in place around the Apprenticeships business. 

The individual 

Qualified Accountant (ACCA/ACA/CIMA/CIPFA)  or nearly Qualified Accountant
Management Accounting experience including production of management accounts and reports
Strong IT skills including advanced excel, experience of working with ERP systems 
Demonstrable Experience in process design, change management and project management
Experience of designing and testing financial controls
Experience of interpreting regulations and converting into policy, processes and controls
Analytical and inquisitive mind-set
Self starter and willing to make key decisions
Organised and structured approach to data and information management and maintaining an audit trail 

The Role

Key responsibilities are:

Producing monthly apprenticeships management accounts and reporting to Head of Finance and Apprenticeship Lead
Providing input into the monthly apprenticeship steering group pack and attending the meetings
Producing annual budgets and providing monthly forecasts for Apprenticeships
Ensuring that policy is up to date and in-line with appropriate regulations and IFRS and designing process to ensure that the programme is compliant with policies
Identify and Monitor risks and put in place plans to mitigate as appropriate
Work closely with our Delivery, Commercial and MI teams to ensure data quality
Liaise with customers and suppliers to resolve funding queries and disputes
Determining pricing for new apprenticeship offerings
Reviewing funding submissions and resolving data errors, duplications and conflicts
Reconciling funding requests to master data
Reviewing and approving supplier payments.
