Recruitment Manager - Legal

Reporting into the Head of Recruitment this role works closely with senior stakeholders across the firm on all aspects of experienced hire recruitment. The main focus on the role will be to develop the experienced hire recruitment strategy with a strong emphasis on our D&I recruitment strategy and direct sourcing.

The role will manage a team of three Recruitment Advisors and will also look after some lines of recruitment themselves being HR and senior Business Services positions e.g. Head of Level.

We are looking for candidates with excellent stakeholder management skills who can effectively manage their own workload and take pride in delivering a good service to the business. Candidates will also need management experience as well as strong recruitment experience within either the legal or wider professional services (Partnership) businesses.

Lateral/Experienced Hire Recruitment

  • Ensure that all recruitment for fee earning, business services, secretarial, temp and contract recruitment is delivered in a cost effective and professional manner
  • Proactively deliver the most appropriate recruitment solution for business stakeholders through the team
  • Manage a team of four experienced recruitment specialists, and work closely with them to maximize their potential. Ensure portfolios are managed appropriately across the team and ensure the team are managed and motivated to work closely as a team
  • Instigate and implement regular meetings and briefing sessions with key stakeholders in particular the Heads of Departments in Business Services
  • Work closely with our regional Hub and the People, Resourcing and Culture Manager to ensure there is consistency in recruitment processes
  • Continue to develop the direct sourcing strategy through referrals, LinkedIn, mapping and online advertising to encourage applications from the best individuals
  • Develop a good relationship with key PSL suppliers and ensure that they have regular briefings and are kept up-to-date on relevant information and changes to the business
  • Manage the UK relationship with LinkedIn and ensure there are appropriate updates and information feeds to Head of Recruitment and other stakeholders across LLP/Global as appropriate
  • Ensure the recruitment website current and content appropriate and that the roles that are advertised through this medium are appropriately written
  • Focus on our EVP and content for our intranet, website and peer review sites, developing written content, film and photography, working closely with our marketing team
  • Continue to build on the Referrals programme, roll this out to other EMEA offices and provide regular reporting on results
  • Research and implement new methodologies for assessing client facing and business services role to ensure the business selects the best people
  • Ensure the effective use of CV Mail (ATS) liaising with colleagues in International offices as and when required
  • Ensure the recruitment team works closely with HR colleagues including human resources, D&I, Employee Relations, L&D, global mobility
  • Develop and implement an effective D&I recruitment strategy. Work with internal networks and our Head of D&I and Graduate Recruitment Manager to ensure there is
  • Consider changes that are affecting the legal landscape and how this will affect the changing landscape of recruitment, investigate new trends and make recommendations
  • Responsible for the recruitment of senior level LLP Business Services roles and some Partner recruitment
  • Ensure that no recruitment is undertaken unless approved
  • Actively manage the budget for lateral recruitment including all external suppliers, recruitment marketing, assessments and promotional activities
  • Providing appropriate monthly and weekly reporting for all business areas


  • Proactively develop individuals on the Recruitment team to develop their potential working closely with L&D where appropriate
  • Instigate, lead and deliver on appropriate HR Projects and Priorities
  • Manage the submission and approval process of all recruitment requests across the LLP
  • Represent the business at appropriate external forums and networking groups
  • Ensure that all of the business' obligations as far as immigration, GDPR and legal requirements are fully complied with
  • Ensure the principles of diversity and inclusion are embedded in all activities carried out by the recruitment team
  • Act as the first point of contact for any requests for information from within the practice on matters relating to experienced hire recruitment
  • Ensure all process are continually evaluated and improved and embedding a 'continuous improvement' mind-set


  • Previous experienced hire recruitment experience at a managerial level, ideally in a professional services firm
  • Some experience of working on the supplier side would be beneficial
  • Must be experienced in managing a team
  • Excellent communications skills and the ability to work with people at all levels
  • Budget management experience
