Are you looking for a role where you will work closely with an MD who truly values HR's business contribution and wants to hire a best in class, commercial Head of HR/HR Director as their "right arm"?

Our confidential private equity backed client is a well-established market leader in its specialist sector. They are a well-loved successful brand, and under the leadership of the recently appointed new MD for the UK and Ireland are looking to recruit a new HRD/Head of HR (dotted line into Group HRD) who has responsibility for approximately 250 UK based employees.

The MD is a highly regarded, authentic leader who truly sees the value in developing people and "gets" the HR agenda. The success of the business will be down to its two greatest assets of "brand" and "people". He has been appointed to turn around the UK business, focus on developing the brand, enhancing sales, making operational improvements and generally increasing profitability. The opportunity for HR to make a massive difference to the success of this 220 strong division cannot be over-emphasised.

From a strategic perspective, the successful candidate will partner the business' leadership team to stabilise the business and improve profitability. Underpinning this change is a need to bring around clarity of future strategy and employee engagement and communication, as well as talent management are key to this.

Leading a small HR team, you will develop a consistent performance driven culture, drive enhanced operational performance, and shape talent, capability and engagement solutions. Following the relatively recent divestment from the US parent, plenty of work around new systems implementation is needed, so you will need to be comfortable with rolling up your sleeves and "getting on" with things.

The ideal candidate will be a commercially astute, and credible HR professional. They will be a confident and flexible individual with strong business acumen and a successful track record in commercial HR business partnering. They will be an excellent relationship builder, have a collaborative mindset and have an exceptional focus on operational excellence.

Whilst specific sector experience is not a pre-requisite, strong candidates will be able to demonstrate their ability to work at pace within FMCG/retail branded organisations.
