Director of HR & OD
Located in a vibrant riverside town close to London, Kingston University is a progressive and modern institution. Ranked amongst the top 200 youngest universities in the world by the Times Higher Education, it brings a truly global outlook to higher education, serving a vibrant and inspiring student community from over 140 countries across 4 main campuses. Under the leadership of its new Vice-Chancellor, Professor Steven Spier, the university has leapt significantly in each major UK League Table Ranking and is now seeking to deliver a transformational vision for change that will position it amongst the very best modern universities worldwide.
In delivering the above, the university is now seeking to recruit an exceptional new Director of HR & OD. To achieve transformational change, it recognises that a one university culture is key, and the new postholder will therefore take strategic accountability for scoping a new approach to leadership, management and engagement. Operating as a key member of the University Executive Team s/he will partner with, and forge strong relationships across, both academic and professional service colleagues; creating a new strategy for success shaped around a customer-focused approach to change.
With significant HR & OD leadership experience gained in a large, complex, people-focused organisation, the successful candidate will possess a proven track record of pursuing creative strategies that deliver progressive organisational development. A strategic thinker, with a well-developed sense of best practice gained across a range of sectors, s/he will have a genuine commitment to the mission of the University - ‘to enhance students' life chances through inspiring learning, advancing knowledge, innovating professional practice and engaging with society’.
The Vice-Chancellor says ‘the aim of our mission and vision is to reclaim our position as the best modern university in London and surrounding region and this post is a key component in creating that success.’
This is a stimulating time to join a university that is passionate about the power of university education and its ability to transform the lives of its staff, students and the community it serves. This is a superb prospect for an exceptional leader to guide Kingston’s HR & OD service in a fresh and exciting phase in its development, and to join the senior management team of a truly ambitious institution that is committed to delivering genuine excellence.
