The HR Advisory Services team within the SSO are a newly formed and are part of the wider HR community

The HR Advisory Services team are a small group within the HR services function who provide Tier 2 level advisory support to both employees and managers across a wide range of HR processes and issues including some ER work. Working closely with both Business Facing HR, CoEs and the People Solution Delivery Team (PSD), the team will on more complex HR queries where the HR Service desk and HR services teams are unable to answer fully as well as offering a route for both internal and external escalation management.

The Shared Services Organisation is based in Milton Keynes in the UK and the EDC, supporting the UK and Swiss Firms comprising 14,000 Partners and staff including 24 UK Offices and 5 Swiss offices.


Your role

The HR Advisory Services Senior Assistant will provide support to the HR Advisory Services Team Leader and Manager as well as taking ownership for allocated case work and administration:


  • Provide end to end case management of ER cases currently supported by the SSO (Including Exam Fails, Lost and stolen equipment and probation failures)
  • Provide day to day advisory support to employees, managers and partners across Deloitte UK through case management as escalated by the HR Helpdesk and Hire to Retire teams
  • Manage escalations as allocated both from SSO and wider HR teams, ensuring appropriate follow up and management of stakeholders
  • Provide timely and effective handover, where appropriate, of cases that require input or completion by the wider HR community (CoE, Business Facing HR, PSD)
  • Support fast-track VIP service to Partners as required
  • Provide an employee focussed experience through the timely and accurate completion of queries and activities, ensuring all service level agreements are met
  • Ensure all SAP related actions or updates are completed accurately in time for payroll deadlines and in line with procedural guidelines.
  • Record and maintain accurate activity information tracking through to timely closure.
  • Escalate more complex queries to the team leader.
  • Take responsibility for keeping up to date with Deloitte HR policy and process developments.
  • Ensure compliance with appropriate Data Protection legislation at all times.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with the SSO and wider HR community
  • Pro-actively identify and recommend process improvements through appropriate channels
  • Support the maintenance of internal training guides, intranet content and team training as appropriate
  • Manage end to end basic ER cases including lost and stolen equipment, exam fails and probation reviews as directed by the HR Advisory Team Leader
  • Management of the HR Advisory Services inbox including responding to queries or directing the query to the appropriate team member
  • To manage and maintain the case management system in line with SSO and HR processes
  • Ensure appropriate escalation of cases, where required, to the HR Advisory Services Team Leader
  • Provide note taking at formal meetings as required by both the ER and PSD teams all matters of conduct and capability, dispute resolution and transactions

Your professional experience

  • Previous HR Administration experience, ideally from within a generalist HR team
  • CIPD or other relevant HR qualification: working towards preferred but not essential
  • Strong negotiating and influencing skills, with the gravitas to command professional respect at all levels
  • A confident delivery of verbal and written communications with excellent attention to detail.
  • Advisory skills: ability to work in ambiguous situations and provide clear/best fit solutions
  • Commercial awareness & risk management: Strong awareness and understanding of the current environment within which we operate; able to adapt recommendations or advise as appropriate
  • Demonstrate a professional, friendly and approachable manner coupled with the ability to communicate with staff at all levels, especially when under pressure. 
  • Able to work using their own initiative, showing attention to detail and customer focus, with a good understanding of the client’s needs and priorities. 
  • Enthusiastic and eager to learn new technologies.
  • Committed to working with their team to maintain a positive team spirit.
  • Good listener with a calm manner, and the ability to ask effective questions.
  • Excellent customer service skills and a good telephone manner.
  • Must be a supportive team player who is reliable and respects others, with a desire and drive to meet and exceed team targets.
  • Required to project a professional image of the Shared Services Organisation at all times, and shows an interest in the external industry.
  • Must demonstrate a methodical, analytical and clear approach to problems.
  • Is able to act with urgency when necessary.

  • Demonstrates integrity and a can do attitude.
  • Previous administration experience required.
  • Experience of the core Microsoft Office packages is essential, and knowledge of SAP or other HR systems is preferable.
