Talent Development Senior Manager

A highly successful and Insurance business based in the City now have an exciting role available for a Talent Development Senior Manager.

The talent development function is responsible for supporting the wider TD team in delivering a global strategy for talent management, leadership and management development and other leading edge activities.

This will be an internationally focused role with a reporting line into the US and will cover a broad range such as Talent Development, Leadership Development, Management Development, Change, D&I and will also have two direct reports.


  • Lead the Talent strategy for the business international, aligned to the global strategy and plans as well as business and HR priorities in areas including talent management, culture and engagement, learning and development

  • Partner to design and implement global leadership, management development and change programs

  • Manage the global Diversity & Inclusion strategy and design and implement initiatives specific to the International business

  • Ensure the effective implementation of agreed talent initiatives and processes including key project activity

  • Ensure consistent practices are used across the business by working with the HRBP's and relevant business leaders, tailoring components to local needs when there is a clear business case

  • Lead talent management activities, including talent reviews, succession and development planning in partnership with HRBP's, particularly in respect of leadership, critical and specialist roles and manager/senior managers

  • Guide and support the embedding of people plans and specific activities to improve engagement

  • Ensure that the learning and development needs of the business and individuals are identified, solutions developed, delivered and evaluated

  • Guide and support the creation of a high-quality performance management culture consistent with the global talent philosophy

  • Maintain and share high quality data and insights around talent subject matter to advance and inform decision making

  • Line management of the International Talent Development team

In addition, Senior Managers within the business will:

  • Identify and gain acceptance for improvements in HR practices and processes across the team and lead their implementation

  • Create and maintain high quality management information which highlights trends and supports decision making including, but not limited to, board reports, budget and compensation data

  • Take an active role in global HR projects, usually driven by the global HR function in the US

  • Under direction of HR Director, involvement in organisational design projects, TUPE negotiations, due diligence and acquisition projects

  • Deputise for the HR Director - International on HR matters as directed


  • Demonstrate a proven ability to design and implement a range of talent solutions in a variety of modes and mediums to meet business requirements

  • Have extensive experience of talent management within a fast moving, international, acquisitive business

  • Have experience of managing others as well as experience of delivering process improvements within talent management

  • Possess expertise within talent development and organisational design with the ability to communicate this in a commercial and pragmatic way, using simple business language

  • Demonstrate effective organisational skills, paying close attention to detail with an ability to prioritise and work to deadlines

  • Show high levels of integrity and discretion as working in an environment where confidentiality and sensitivity must be maintained

  • Present a professional attitude and interpersonal skills in order to interact well within the team and with internal and external contacts

  • Work with a methodical approach and have enthusiasm for correctness and completeness of results

  • Possess excellent customer service skills

  • Show high levels of integrity and discretion with a passion for treating people fairly

  • Enjoy working in a hands-on team

  • Be flexible in terms of tasks performed and hours worked including UK and some overseas travel
