We are looking for HR and OD professionals who are at the top of their game and who are passionate about developing modern, business focussed solutions, and who are not afraid to challenge and try something new. The challenge we have at Essex County Council is massive, the opportunity is even bigger. This is your chance to bring new and modern ways of doing things to one of the biggest county councils in the country, where you will be encouraged to share your ideas, experience and be at the heart of creating and delivering best fit solutions.
If the idea of being part of a team who is making a real difference to public service, and to the lives of the residents of Essex, appeals to you – then this is the place for you. You may currently be working outside of local government or even in the private sector but looking to showcase your skills on a larger stage and focussed on business performance which has a real impact on people’s lives.
Do you have a proven ability to design and deliver forward thinking innovative leadership and management programmes? Are you interested in working closely with our most senior leaders, and help shaping the leadership development agenda not only for the Council, but Essex and beyond? Then our ODP team has the ideal role for you. Using your deep subject matter expertise, we will rely on you to create an innovative, integrated and practical framework for accelerating the development of the council’s leaders and managers so that they can deliver our organisation strategy. You will work collaboratively with not only our People Business Partners, but also our colleagues in the People insights team and our Talent development lead, to ensure we translate our organisational insights and future workforce needs into tangible and practical interventions at all levels from executive development to early-career stages. In short, your strategic understanding of leadership and management development and talent for bringing plans to life will have every chance to shine.
Knowledge, skills and experience
Educated to degree level or equivalent, CIPD qualification is preferred. We are looking for significant technical expertise in Leadership and Management development at all levels, balanced with a pragmatic approach. Adept at managing complex projects, conducting research/breaking new ground, developing impactful solutions and providing expert support for other practitioners comes naturally to you. You know how to design and develop leadership assessments and use psychometric tools and have sound expertise in designing and applying impact evaluation frameworks to evidence the success of your interventions. Practical experience in learning and business needs consulting is important too, as is a talent for designing and facilitating compelling and engaging workshops, events or development interventions, sometimes to a tough, highly critical audience.
