- Contract type
We are looking for HR and OD professionals who are at the top of their game and who are passionate about developing modern, business focussed solutions, and who are not afraid to challenge and try something new. The challenge we have at Essex County Council is massive, the opportunity is even bigger. This is your chance to bring new and modern ways of doing things to one of the biggest county councils in the country, where you will be encouraged to share your ideas, experience and be at the heart of creating and delivering best fit solutions.
If the idea of being part of a team who is making a real difference to public service, and to the lives of the residents of Essex, appeals to you – then this is the place for you. You may currently be working outside of local government or even in the private sector but looking to showcase your skills on a larger stage and focussed on business performance which has a real impact on people’s lives.
Joining us as Lead Performance Consultant, it will be down to you with the support of your practice lead colleagues to establish our new Performance Consulting team, in order to positively impact organisational performance and culture. You’ll help bring together our Organisational Effectiveness and Leadership & Talent teams to jointly identify and develop holistic interventions that drive transformational change. And you’ll work with more than just the usual suspects, partnering with teams like People Business Partnering, Business Design & Change, Continuous Improvement, and People Analytics, Insight & Technology.
You will lead, develop and be part of our flexible consultant pool, focusing on developing high performing teams using a wide array of tools, techniques and approaches. Addressing complex issues means that the solutions you’ll need to find won’t be simple, and we’re looking for someone who can use their wide experience from different fields – change, OD, capability building, leadership and management development – to develop creative and effective solutions that deliver demonstrable business results. You’ll need to balance all of this whilst implementing complex, organisation-wide strategic people projects.
Knowledge, skills and experience
Degree qualified (or with equivalent experience), you will be an expert in organisational consulting, ideally as an internal consultant, and have experience when it comes to resource allocation and workload management. We would also like to see where you have managed business transformation and change programmes before. An exceptional communicator and creative problem solver, you will have good influencing skills and be confident when it comes to delivering workshops, events and development interventions and have a talent for creating impactful solutions.
