ER Manager, Human Resources - 12 months FTC

As a Manager in our Employee Relations (ER) team, you will have the opportunity to build on your specialist knowledge whilst taking responsibility for managing specific ER cases.
 

Role description


Working within this Centre of Excellence, you will find yourself advising individuals, the business and business-facing HR teams in handling a wide range of employment relations matters, this will include end to end case management of grievance, disciplinary and other matters. You will also lead on smaller restructures/TUPE’s or work as part of a wider time on large scale programmes. You will also get involved in supporting wider HR project activity as a Subject Matter Expert. There will be opportunity to design, develop and deliver training to your HR colleagues and the business as required.
 

Location


You will be based in a Deloitte London office, although some travel to regional offices will be required.

Responsibilities


As a Manager in our Employee Relations team you will:


 Manage ER cases on a wide range of staff management issues, such as disciplinaries, grievances, appeals etc. Offering the business support throughout the case and engaging with the business-facing HR, Shared Service Organisation (SSO) and Legal teams when necessary
 Review, draft and update policies owned by ER, in accordance with legislative changes, and design guidance materials to assist and support managers and staff in the exercise of good employment practice
 Work with ER Senior Managers in producing training materials for the business, process guidance for SSO and ‘how to’ guides for the HR teams. Develop and support the delivery of ER-related learning to support the ongoing objective to embedding and transferring work to other areas of the HR function.
 Support the Senior Managers in carrying out research into ER initiatives at other high performing organisations to ensure Deloitte is adopting best practice, market leading methods to reduce risk to the business.
 Business Insights & Analysis
 Work with the Management Information team to develop and detailed reporting on ER activity to identify trends and to enable the business to make informed decisions working though the business-facing HR team
 Support key projects and transactional activity where ER subject matter expertise is required and highlight key risks and issues that could impact the overall project delivery and timescales
 Work closely with teams across the HR operating model to ensure potential ER related activity is captured; engage with subject matter experts in external functions (incl. Legal, Compliance and Risk) to secure expert opinion on complex issues with potential risk to the organisation
 Work effectively in diverse teams within an inclusive team culture where people are recognised for their contribution; and demonstrate a willingness to support and cover for other team members as required to provide a seamless service to the business

 

Requirements


 Practical experience in applying current employment law through managing ER cases and related risks
 A sophisticated understanding of broader HR best practice
 Ability to manage multiple activities and prioritise work as important vs urgent and ensure Head of ER has clear visibility of current workload
 Proven stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills
 Strong verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to lead, facilitate and manage complex cases and multiple stakeholders end to end
 Ability to use own initiative to progress issues and to identify continual opportunities for improvement
 Ability to make prompt, practical and commercial decisions, even in times of ambiguity and in consideration of various perspectives, applying sound judgement and balancing risk with the commercial needs of the firm
 Experience of working in a professional services firm would be an advantage
 Experience in dealing with change and/or working in an HR Centre of Excellence would be desirable
