About Us
Ochre House is one of Europe's leaders in new generation recruitment outsourcing and talent management.<br /><br />Our business is to deliver clear and quantifiable value to major companies, financial institutions and professional firms across the region through effective talent management at all levels. We have no ‘standard packages’, no ‘one size fits all’ products. Every solution is tailored to the individual circumstances, aims and requirements of our clients.
About Ochre House
Drawing on more than fifteen years' experience, Ochre House is now one of Europe's major players in recruitment outsourcing and the wider talent management field.
We work with highly demanding and ambitious organisations across the continent such as BUPA, Steria, Somerfield, Agilent Technologies and Telefonica O2 for whom we manage recruitment, development and retention campaigns encompassing thousands of professionals.
Yet despite this we remain committed to a personal touch in everything we do. We help our clients to manage their human resources in the most effective manner by treating every one of them as a unique case. We have no ‘standard’ solutions, no ‘one size fits all’ approach.
We listen, learn, evaluate and innovate to ensure that the solutions we apply to your business are exactly tailored to the particular challenges and opportunities it faces.
Environment
Ochre House understands that economic growth and environmental sustainability are closely linked.
We recognise the importance of minimising the impact our business has on the environment and we are working hard to implement policies and procedures which have both immediate and long term positive effects on our environment.
Organisation
Ochre House seeks to:
- Ensure that all employees are aware that poor practices can result in environmental and health hazards
- Review and update this policy on a regular basis to ensure environmental issues arising from new developments are integrated into this policy
- Communicate this policy to staff, suppliers and clients so that they are fully aware of our company’s stance on the environment
Waste
Ochre House has reduced the amount of paper waste it produces by:
- Actively reducing the volume of paper mail-shots
- Replacing paper mail-shots with “e-shots” - email
- Encouraging employees to reduce their paper waste by choosing not to print unnecessarily
- Introducing a new and effective recycling scheme
Our head office has reduced the amount of waste that goes to landfill by a staggering 75%. This has been accomplished by removing all personal rubbish bins and replacing them with recycling and general waste bins at certain points around the office. The company recycles all discarded paper, plastics, cardboard, tin and glass. We are in the process of rolling out similar recycling schemes across all our subsidiary businesses.
Energy and Resources
Ochre House encourages staff to:
- Switch off lights in boardrooms and interview rooms when not in use
- Switch off monitors during lunch breaks and completely shut down PC’s at the end of the day
- Unplug unused mobile phone chargers and other such devices
- Introducing a new and effective recycling scheme
Our head office currently sources its electricity from “Good Energy” who supply only 100% renewable energy.
We aim to change all other electricity contracts to tariffs which include a percentage of renewable energy.
Products and Procurement
Ochre House seeks to purchase its marketing materials and merchandise through suppliers who have rigorous environmental policies and who also provide eco-friendly products.
We already purchase environmentally friendly office stationery products (where through production they have not damaged the environment) and where possible, products made from recyclable goods.
Carbon Emissions
Ochre House:
- Seeks to purchase goods from local businesses therefore reducing carbon emissions through unnecessary travel
- Encourages its employees to use environmentally friendly modes of transport
A day in the life of Gevangee Desai
As a technical support analyst at Ochre House, I basically make sure that everything, system-wise, is working OK. For me, a typical day involves arriving in the morning and completing system checks to ensure that all the servers and services are up and running with no problems. If I find any glitches then I’ll get to work fixing them. Otherwise, I’ll start on some ‘help desk’ work. We have a ticketing system for staff who report a technical problem, so I’ll have a look at those and see if there’s anything urgent that needs my attention. That can keep me occupied all day! But if everything is running smoothly I turn to project work, which could be something like setting up a new server. I’ve worked at Ochre House for three years now and the people here are the best group of people I’ve ever worked with. Everyone is supportive and understanding of each other and that’s what makes me look forward to coming into the office in the morning.
A day in the life of Prashanie Dharmadasa
I joined Ochre House as a business development co-ordinator in 2007 but my role has evolved so much in this short time – now I would say I am more of a consultant in this area. My role encompasses so many different things. Ochre House has its own HR Network, a group of around 650 senior HR practitioners that works with us to develop thought leadership on key issues, and this is something that I manage. I’m also involved in events like Think Tanks that we host for the network as well as marcomms and business development support. So I never have the same day twice!
Tasks that I would do on a typical day might include meeting new members of the HR Network, introducing them to it and talking to them to really understand the challenges they face and what’s happening in the marketplace. I have four to five meetings a week, all over the country, and am constantly working to highlight the benefits of the Network and to develop my understanding of trends and developments.
I also look at my events calendar and work on organising upcoming events, workshops and conferences. I have responsibility for the whole event process, including asking Network members what issues they’d like to address and if they’d like to host an event, making sure delegates are invited and able to attend and drawing up a tailored agenda so that everyone gets something valuable to take away afterwards.
Our regular newsletter is also something that I’m heavily involved in so I will work on that and also liaise with our marketing function to develop new ways of expanding the Network. All of this links into getting Ochre House’s message out and strengthening our brand.
I have worked for Ochre House for around two years now and I love it! It’s the most dynamic organisation that I’ve ever worked for - it has gained a respectable position in the market but is still nimble enough to be fast paced and open to change – it’s constantly evolving. What I also like about working here is that people’s opinions and ideas are always heard, regardless of their seniority. We have a forum that we can post comments on and our CEO will respond personally, so everyone is accessible. I entered into my role with no previous experience in business development and since then not only have my role and responsibilities grown a lot but I have learnt so much!
