Mark Knapper

A History and Politics graduate who has spent over twenty years in the recruitment industry, Mark formed Astralis with Steve O’Brien in 1999 having previously acted as Board Director and head of the HR Practice of a major consultancy.

Historically, whilst his experience covers multi-functional recruitment at all levels, in more recent years there has been an increasingly strong focus towards Human Resources across a range of vertical market sectors and encompassing both generalist and specialist roles, predominantly at senior management and director level. Particular areas of expertise lie in the fields of change management, employee relations and reward strategy whilst, geographically, assignments have been conducted in Germany, France, Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland and the Caribbean as well as the UK.  Internally Mark has responsibility for both corporate marketing strategy and the development of key alliances with other organisations as well as increasing participation in and contribution to industry leading initiatives.

Mark lives in rural Hertfordshire and has extensive interests, which include football (a passionate supporter of both Hereford United and England), tennis and rugby.

Matt Wallis

After studying for a B.Sc. in Physical Geography at the University of Liverpool, Matt spent seven months travelling Asia & Australasia and controlling corporate hospitality for a sports event management company based in Sydney. On his return to the UK he joined a leading global IT services organisation, where he had responsibility for the overseeing of service provider negotiations and contractor relationship management across the UK.

Matt joined Astralis in 2004, utilising his experience in relationship management and client facing environments to grow existing, as well as developing new business and delivering recruitment solutions within the Human Resources Division.

Matt focuses on recruiting permanent positions, typically at salaries of £50,000 – £120,000 across all disciplines of Human Resources.  His particular expertise however, is within Resourcing, Talent & Leadership Development and senior level Generalist HR roles where he has developed a strong global network and has an enviable success rate of finding the right talent.

Matt lives in rural Hertfordshire and his interests include skiing, tennis and cycling. He is also an extremely committed fundraiser for Marie Curie Cancer Care and within the last 4 years has personally raised over £19,000 by trekking through South America, running the London Marathon and most recently competing in a team multisport challenge in the ‘less than sunny’ Brecon Beacons.

Kris McMahon

Kris joined Astralis in June 2006 and has become an essential part of the fast-growing interim practice. Building on his considerable previous experience as an HR specialist at a leading interim provider, he is once again focusing on human resources and has a wide portfolio of clients in the technology, retail, hospitality, education, not-for-profit and business services sectors.

Having spent over seven years travelling to London from his home in Hertfordshire, Kris is now enjoying working closer to home in St Albans so that he can spend more time with his young family. He is a keen sportsman and is trying, injury permitting, to continue to play football to a competitive level

Nazareth Dona

Having initially graduated with a first degree in International Trade with Spanish, Nazareth furthered her studies by completing a Masters qualification in Marketing Management which led to an early career focusing on project management within the market research arena.

Now, with over 7 years experience in business, Naz has developed strong communication skills which, combined with her positive nature, means her clients can rely on her to deliver. Working within the HR function at Astralis for the last 2 years, Naz has developed excellent relationships with some of our most established clients.

Naz lives in Hertfordshire and has a wide-range of interests. Keeping fit is a key goal and includes regular gym sessions, lengthy bike rides. Travel is another big passion and with a Spanish heritage, trips to Spain to are high on the agenda.

Sajid Mahmood

Sajid started his career working as a Business Development Manager in the Advertising and I.T sector, and after over 10 years of success in these fields Sajid was keen to move into recruitment. Sajid Joined Astralis  in November 2010 to work on the already established HR Interim function. Sajid’s background has helped him to add real value to the HR function and become a specialist in the junior HR market. Sajid will be targeting the HR market across a variety of sectors including Retail, Technology, FMCG, and other sectors.

The majority of Sajid’s career has been spent working in central London and he is now enjoying working closer to home and having a much more flexible work/ life balance. He is a keen sportsman, plays football regularly and enjoys all aspects of fitness at his local gym. 2011 promises to be a busy year for Saj from a professional and personal aspect.
