Do you have a passion for your people?

How passionate are you about the development of your people and the service they deliver? Are you as passionate about the development of your people as you are the profit of your business?

Re: Do you have a passion for your people?

    Mary Jane,

In 30+ years of managing people, their development became my passion after I got rid of the top-down command and control approach which naturally disrespects, demotivates and demoralizes them.  I came to realize that concentrating on their health, well being and development was the best and fastest way to increased profits.

I hope that the lack of response to your question is not a clear indicator of a lack of interest in development of people by HR professionals.  I always thought that it should be the number one concern of HR but that was not the case where I worked.

To understand my own views of this issue, you could read my article at

Surely the two should go hand in hand. By developing a skilled and motivated workforce, customer service and productivity will be high and profits will follow.

    Best wishes
    Simon
