Salaries for jobs advertised in London are now on average £11,000 higher than anywhere else in the UK.
New figures have been released today by jobs search engine AllTheTopBananas.com after analysis of more than 555,000 job adverts published in the last six months.
• Its July monthly salary index reveals that outside London people can expect an average advertised salary of £30,450.
• But people applying for jobs in the capital will see an average advertised salary of £41,079.
• Those in the North West have the lowest average advertised salary at just £28,641.
Dave Martin is MD of AllTheTopBananas.com. He said: “In the nine months we have been publishing this salary index, we have seen a growing gap between advertised London salaries and the rest of the country.
“If you look regionally there is about a £4,000 difference from the region with the lowest average salary, in the North West, to that of the highest, East Anglia. But the jump from East Anglian salaries to London salaries is a staggering £8,500.”
And Dave believes the gap will get bigger. He added: “We are continuing to forecast rises in average salaries, and a growing gap between London salaries and the rest of the UK.”
Across the regions, Wales is in third place again with an average advertised salary of £31,795.
