Back in the early 90's one of my colleagues, Bryan, ran an advert in The Grocer magazine with the headline "New Year New Career". Being new to recruitment I thought that Bryan was a genius and that it was the cleverest strapline I'd ever seen. It didn't take me long to realise Bryan wasn't a genius and now I see that the strapline wasn't even based on accurate data. Recent research from The Franchise Group shows that whilst "48% of respondents to a study of 1,000 workers said they think about handing in their notice and looking for a new job when they are back at work" the study showed that 28% are most likely to resign after their main summer holiday, with a paltry 20% feeling disgruntled with work after their Christmas break. Mind you, "Back from Holiday in Tenerife, New Career" doesn't quite have the same ring.
