HSBC Insurance Global HR Head leaves London to oversee HR at ANZ
ANZ has announced the appointment of Ms Susie Babani as Group General Manager Human Resources reporting to ANZ's Chief Executive Officer, Mr Mike Smith.

Ms Babani joins ANZ from HSBC in London where she was Global Head of Human Resources with HSBC Insurance. Ms Babani has held a series of senior human resources and business roles with HSBC including Chief Operating Officer, Business Process Offshoring, East Asia; Executive Vice-President, Human Resources with HSBC Bank USA and Global Head of Human Resources with HSBC Asset Management. She has worked in the United Kingdom, China, Canada and the United States.

Ms Babani joins ANZ following Mr Shane Freeman's appointment as Managing Director, Operations Technology and Shared Services India, where he will lead the continued strategic development of ANZ's technology and operations facility in Bangalore. Mr Freeman will report to Mr David Cartwright, Group Managing Director Operations Technology and Shared Services.

Commenting on the appointments, Mr Smith said: "Susie has extensive international experience in leading the human resources function. She is ideally placed to build on the strengths ANZ has developed in people and culture, and to support the business as we sharpen our focus on performance and growth in Australia, New Zealand and Asia.

"Shane leaves the human resources function after six years, having established ANZ as a preferred employer with a distinctive culture. Our technology and operations centre in Bangalore is now a strategic asset, with almost 2,000 people supporting ANZ's business. His appointment reflects the importance I am attaching to developing Bangalore and leveraging it as a source of competitive advantage," Mr Smith said.
