Royal College of Nursing appoints new HR Director
David Cooper took up the post of Director of HR at the Royal College of Nursing on 10 September, with responsibility for leading the HR team, supporting the RCN’s change programme and developing and implementing HR policy and strategy across the organisation.

With a wealth of experience in the public sector and professional and trade associations, including board level positions in a number of organisations, David was the Director for HR and Corporate Affairs at the East London and The City Mental Health NHS Trust.

He is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and has recently worked as an Associate National Officer at Managers in Partnership (Unison). David also lectures part-time on a Postgraduate Diploma course in Human Resources Management and on a Masters degree.

Commenting on his appointment, David said: "I am delighted to be joining the RCN and look forward to the opportunity to apply my knowledge of Human Resources and trade unions to the largest professional union of nursing staff in the world. It is vital that the Human Resources functions are managed in a way that enables staff to apply and develop their skills in a supportive environment."
