Pitmans, the Thames Valley’s largest commercial law firm, has appointed
a new Human Resources Director. Wendy Somerville joined Pitmans in 1997
after emigrating from South Africa and has been Human Resources Officer
with the firm since then. During her time at Pitmans she has managed
the change from manual personnel documentation to a computerised
programme, introduced an Appraisal system for lawyers and support staff
and introduced and managed the introduction of digital dictation for
the firm.
Wendy completed her Personnel qualification in 2002
after studying at Thames Valley University. She is an Associate of the
Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development. Prior to joining
Pitmans she worked for Gestetner and Dunn and Bradstreet.
Christopher Avery, Managing Partner, Pitmans, said: “Pitmans
is currently growing at a considerable rate, and is set to continue to
do so for the foreseeable future. As a result it is essential that we
make it the best place to work in the Thames Valley. Personnel issues
are very important to Pitmans, and we are careful to select the right
people for the firm. Wendy has proven to be a loyal and hard working
member of the HR team for the past 10 years, and will be highly
competent as the new HR Director.”
