Philip Guy, a leading interim HR director and executive recruitment specialist, has joined AshtonPenney, the AIM-listed interim management provider, as Head of its Human Resources Practice. Philip is CIPD qualified. The practice provides interim managers specialising in senior HR roles, who undertake assignments at HR Director, functional head, and project manager levels. Philip Guy's role will be to grow AshtonPenney's existing practice and to establish it as the principal supplier of HR interim executives in both the commercial and public sectors. Building on his own experiences as an HR interim he will offer bespoke solutions to those organisations seeking immediate and professional HR expertise to help resolve a range of business issues. From AshtonPenney's extensive network of qualified executives, he can access precisely matched executives to meet the client requirements. Philip's early career included senior HR roles with GKN and Rockwell International, before moving to PA Consulting Group where over ten years he gained extensive expertise in executive and specialist resourcing techniques. His career as an interim executive began in 1994 at the Welsh Development Agency in Cardiff, and progressed through chemical manufacturing, Barclays Bank, and several start-up manufacturing businesses until he arrived at the satellite telecommunications business, ICO Global Communications, where he became Head of HR. More recently he has completed assignments for a facilities management business, an insurance company and a supplier of foreign currency and banknotes. Recent figures from the Interim Management Association show that the demand for interim HR executives has been increasing steadily during the last 12 months and is now the most common job function, accounting for over 20% of all interim assignments completed. "With the increasing numbers of mergers, acquisitions, and corporate restructurings, and more rigorous legislative requirements, the HR function is having an increased impact on all levels and aspects of business decision making," says Guy.
