Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP announced yesterday that Jeremiah DeBerry has joined the firm as Director of Diversity.
“Jerry’s experience and enthusiasm will be invaluable to Cadwalader as we seek to make even greater strides towards enhancing diversity,” said Robert O. Link Jr., Cadwalader’s Chairman and Managing Partner. “As Director of Diversity, Jerry will be responsible for a series of interconnected programs, policies and initiatives in all of our offices that are designed to help all Cadwalader personnel understand and support our individual differences. I look forward to working with him on these very important issues.” Mr. DeBerry said. “I am excited about returning to the law firm environment and wanted to make sure that I joined an organization that has a positive and action-oriented attitude toward promoting diversity -- Cadwalader certainly fits the bill. I look forward to continuing to foster a more inclusive, effective, and dynamic work environment by expanding upon the strong foundation already in place.”
Prior to joining Cadwalader, Mr. DeBerry was the President of the National Attorney of Color Network, an organization he founded as a resource for legal employers seeking to establish a diverse workforce. Prior to that, he was a partner at Thelen Reid & Priest, LLP (now Thelen Reid Brown Raysman & Steinerm, LLP), where he served on the Recruiting Committee and the Diversity Committee, and drafted the firm’s Guiding Principles and Strategic Plan for Diversity. He earned his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law, where he was an Editor of the Virginia Law Review and an Earl Warren Legal Scholar, and his undergraduate degree from Tufts University. He also completed the Executive Training Program on Corporate Governance at Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management.
