HR Salary Survey 2008 | Joslin Rowe

One of the strongest indications of the strength of the HR job market is the level of jobs we are asked to recruit for. A significant proportion of our positions have focused around very senior HR generalist/OD, change, MIS, training and development roles, as well as heads of recruitment.

• We have witnessed a surge in multiple offers and rising salaries for our strongest candidates, as firms compete to hire.

• There has also been a noticeable increase in requirements for compensation & benefits specialists.

• Permanent candidates within graduate recruitment or HR generalist experience remain in exceptional demand.

• There has been a 23% increase in the number of first time permanent HR roles being recruited for in the City, which has been driven by the growth and success of private banks – amongst others.

• The interim HR market has also seen a great deal of activity and the volume of temporary recruitment roles has risen.

• A lack of temporary HR candidates has caused a sharp increase in temporary rates especially on the interim side. For example, HR business partners have been securing up to £500 a day as opposed to the £350 rate that was more usual last year.

• However, clients are now only considering overseas candidates without UK experience for temporary administrative roles. This is in direct contract to previous recruitment trends.
