Check the logistics of getting there on time

Dress professionally in business attire, even if you know the employer has a casual dress policy

Turn up a few minutes early to compose yourself

Greet the interviewer by name and shake hands firmly but without entering into test of strength

Take your lead from the interviewer – sit when they sit, have a drink if they are etc

Sit upright without being starchy, smile and maintain good eye contact

Let your personality show itself through your answers

Answer questions directly and concisely

Don’t be afraid to pause for thought

Ask intelligent questions when given the opportunity. Stick to business issues rather than benefits packages
