Social entrepreneurs are the answer to rebuilding the economy

The Filth Columnist has been busy worrying about his personal share price. Whilst the interest rate is still high and he is lined up for a couple of awards dinners in a couple of weeks, TFC is not resting on his laurel leaves just yet. Oh no, too much revolution plotting to be done first.

TFC has spent the Summer watching the global economy crumble and believes that he stands viewing the narrow world like a Colossus, whilst the petty men find themselves dishonourable graves (with apologies to Will).

Why the arrogant posturing and swagger? Probably because TFC thinks he has seen the future

When capitalism creaks, corporations take a view of justifying every penny spent. The CSR industry must surely be doomed, as it is at best a fluffy add-on to anyone's bank statement. Even David Cameron appears to have dropped his support for a Socially Responsible agenda (aka pulling public services and asking employers to provide them or classic Conservative cost cutting at the heart of the public sector). Truth is, at the moment, if he asked employers to be more socially responsible, would anyone listen? Businesses are in the business of making money and when that starts to dry up, concessionary spend stops dead in the less enlightened corridors of power. CSR Managers may well be looking over their shoulders waiting for the guillotines to fall.

But consider this. What if capitalism was to fold completely?

Hyper inflation making the price of anything irrelevant. Wages not being worth the payslips they are printed on. The demise of the banks to the point that being as "safe as houses", means that home is a much better bet to store your mullah than the safety deposit boxes of the Bradford and HBLTSClays Bank, on behalf of the government. Or whatever the future single state banks may be called.

Will the government fight to keep individual banks open and rake over the ashes of a system that was established in ancient history? Or will someone step forward with a new paradigm? And will this new construct places CSR at its very heart? Indeedy!

TFC believes that social entrepreneurs are the answer - investors taking a chunk of future success based on an upfront investment in projects that work to make our world a better place. The concept of banks lending to each other becomes an irrelevance if a unified approach to latter day bartering replaces it. Now is the winter of our discontent, now is beginning of the era of sustainabilty.

Anyone up for the challenge? Anyone share TFC's dark revolutionary thoughts?

The old order of politics led by people in the employ of the banks is surely soon to be  over. Long live the new collectives and collisions! Together people are more powerful - especially in business and when in the business of working together to make the world a better place..

Hence forth TFC has decided not to pay tax on money earned from this column in protest, until that is parliament dissolves and power for public services is passed to the public, in which case he will make a 40% contribution to the new Social Entrepreneurs Fund, as yet un established.

Hurrah and tally-ho!

(TFC would like to point out to the Inland Revenue that the tax bill on a zero income is zero. So don't get too excited).
