Register and login

How do I register?

If you are a new visitor to Changeboard, every page you visit will display 'Register' in the main banner of the site. Click Register to start the registration process – either as an individual or an organisation (you can do this separately and have both an individual and organisation account) - and fill out the required information to become an active member of the site. You can also start filling out your profile, and we'll find the content, people, and jobs that best match your interests. Or come back to the profile later after you've finished doing what you were doing before registering.

What happens if I forget my password to login?

If you supplied a verifiable e-mail address during registration, then head over to the Forgotten password form via the link on the login page type in your email address. A temporary password will be emailed to you to allow you to access the site and change your password. If you've forgotten the e-mail address that you created your account with, send us an email at info@changeboard.com and we'll assist you.

My Changeboard (for individuals)

What is this?

My Changeboard is where you go once you login to the site if you are registered as an individual. This is your personal home page, and your personal account on the site. It's also how you interface with the site and read the content you've subscribed to.

Updates – 'What are you thinking?' - how does this work?

Just like on other social and professional networking sites you have the chance to provide real time updates to your contacts about what’s on your mind. They are limited to 240 characters (a micro-blog). The last 10 updates - from yourself and your contacts -appear on the front page of My Changeboard, and the last 50 updates display on the Updates tab of My Changeboard.

My RSS feeds – what are these?

RSS (an abbreviation for Really Simple Syndication) is a family of Web feed formats used to publish frequently updated works—such as blog entries, news headlines, audio, and video—in a standardized format. Feeds make it easy to keep up with dynamic content such as Changeboard resources (content) or other sites around the Web. 'My RSS Feeds' serves as a feed reader enabling you to read content that you've subscribed to through an 'RSS Feed' on the site.

Several RSS feeds appear automatically at the bottom of your My Changeboard page. You can move these around on the page by clicking on the top left corner of each box and dragging them. You can delete any or all of them, or add more to your page by clicking on 'Add more feeds'. We have provided an eclectic mix of over 20 feeds, but you can add any other RSS feeds from the Internet.

What is 'My saved resources?'

This section archives and displays any Resources (articles, practical guides, etc) that you have marked as 'favourites'.

Profile (when logged in as an individual)

What is a Changeboard public profile?

A Changeboard public profile is a detailed profile of both your work and life to provide others with a rounded picture of you. It includes your educational and employment history, as well as information about your goals, wellbeing and interests. It's how people who search on Changeboard can get to know each other on the site. With a profile, users can display more than just a work resume - their profiles will also show the content they've contributed to the site, as well as their updates, the books, music and films that they'd recommend; a summary of their contacts; links to their own site, blog or RSS feed; and their profiles on other networking sites like Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter.

How do I fill out a public profile?

If you missed filling out your profile during the initial registration process, you can go back and edit it at any time. Just login to My Changeboard (your personal account) click on the 'Profile' tab, and you’ll find 'Edit profile' in the sub-navigation bar. In the summary section you can customise your Changeboard profile URL, add your own links and write a brief 'work' and 'life' summary. The work and life tabs below each have four sub-sections that you can complete. The more you fill out in each section, the more people will know about you, and the easier it will be for us to find content that matches your interests.

How do I set my profile image?

Click on "Edit Profile" from your home page, and then click on "Image" on the left hand navigation menu. Click "Browse" to find an image on your computer to upload to the site. Once you find the image, click "Upload." The image that appears will identify you as an icon in your public profile and in other areas throughout the site.

Why should I customise my URL?

Your public profile is given a permanent URL which makes your Changeboard profile available on the Internet. You decide which parts of your profile are shown (see privacy settings), and you can update your profile at any time. By customising your URL, (eg with your name: http://www.changeboard.com/profile/JohnSmith) it allows you to:

  1. use it in your email signature
  2. distribute it to your contacts
  3. be found in searches on Google, Yahoo! And other search engines
  4. control your professional identity on the Internet

Privacy settings

You can set which information from your profile you would like to be public, or set parts of your profile to be only visible to your contacts. The default settings are for all parts of your profile to be public and visible to all users (the exception is your 'Job seeking' tab which is always 'private' and not visible to any other users; you can opt to make this section visible to employers).

My Changeboard toolbar

What is the toolbar that keeps following me around the site? The My Changeboard toolbar is a personal navigation that follows you throughout the site once you are a registered member and you are logged in. From the profile toolbar, you can get to your 'Profile', 'My Jobs', 'Add content', your 'Contacts', and your 'Inbox' for internal messaging within the site.

What are 'My Jobs?'

My Jobs enables you to:

  • create multiple 'jobs by email' profiles
  • track the 10 most recent jobs that match your 'jobs by email' preferences
  • upload and store multiple versions of your CV tailored for your applications
  • store and manage all your job applications, including your covering letters and comments
  • archive your 'favourite jobs' from job searches so you can apply at your convenience
  • search across all your 'recent' or 'favourite' jobs
  • upload your CV in the 'Job seeking' tab to our searchable database
  • create a dynamic 'job seeking' profile so that employers can search, find and headhunt you

What is a 'Job seeking' profile?

With this unique Changeboard tool as well as adding your CV to our searchable database you have the opportunity to market yourself in a much more rounded way by making a detailed work & life profile available to employers.

All of the information disclosed is always private and is not made visible to other users of the site. You have the option to make it fully searchable by prospective employers.

Who are my 'Contacts?'

Use 'Contacts' to manage your contacts. See all contacts on Changeboard. Remove contacts by clicking on the "Remove contact" link next to the contact's information.

Send a message to an individual via the Changeboard internal mail or messaging system.

This is also where you can find people. Search for people by name, by putting their name into the search box and clicking "Search."

How does my 'Inbox' work?

This inbox is for internal messaging within Changeboard. When you send mail to one of your contacts or another user an alert is sent to them outside the site to let them know that they have a message waiting for them in their Changeboard account.

How do I unsubscribe from receiving Changeboard mail?

To unsubscribe from newsletters or mail from Changeboard partners login to your account, and in the 'My Changeboard' tab go to the sub-tab 'Edit account details' and on this page untick both of the boxes under 'Further information'.

How do I unsubscribe from receiving Changeboard 'Jobs by email'?

To stop receiving jobs by email alerts login to your account, go to the 'My Jobs' tab, and then the 'Jobs by email' subtab. On this page there is a box showing all of the 'Jobs by email' alerts that you have set up – to the right of the box is a cross allowing you to delete each of them. Clear all alerts and you will immediately stop receiving the emails.

My Changeboard (for organisations)

My Changeboard is where you go once you login to the site if you are registered as an organisation (Our account).

Can I register as both an individual and organisation?

Yes you can! We encourage every user of the site to register as an individual (even if they are an 'organisation' user as well) so that they can enjoy the benefits provided by your own individual My Changeboard account.

If you are acting on behalf of an organisation (eg to post jobs, or submit content) then we would recommend that you also register as an organisation. Before you do please do an organisation search to check whether your organisation already has an account. If it does, contact the main administrator for your organisation account to ask for the login details. If not then proceed to register your organisation.

Can we have multiple organisation accounts?

Yes – but we'd recommend that to co-ordinate your brand effectively your organisation should operate with one organisation account per country or region.

Can more than one person edit our organisation profile & account?

Yes, if properly authorised. The main organisation administrator (who created the account) can authorise individuals in your organisation to edit your account (eg to add pages to 'Our profile') by simply providing them with the organisation login details (email and password).

Our account - what is this?

This is where you go once you login to the site as an organisation. This is your organisation's home page, and your organisation account on the site. It's also how you interface with the site, author content, and read the content you've subscribed to.

Updates – 'What's new in your organisation?' - how does this work?

Just like on other social and professional networking sites you have the chance to provide real time updates to your organisation's contacts about new developments, ventures, products or offerings. Each 'Update' is limited to 240 characters (a micro-blog). The last 10 updates - from your organisation and its contacts -appear on the front page of My Changeboard, and the last 50 updates display on the Updates tab of 'Our account'.

'Blocked members' – how does this work?

You are able to block contact with any member (individual or organisation). This will stop the blocked member from being able to contact you, or view your profile. Blocking is 2-way as you are unable to contact or a blocked member's profile also. You are able to block members by viewing their profile and selecting 'Block member' from their profile page. You can view a list of members you have blocked on the Blocked members tab of 'Our account'.

Our profile

What is a Changeboard organisation profile? It's a free feature of the site that enables you to showcase your organisation by displaying as much content about your organisation as you like, including multimedia such as videos or pdfs. It is linked to from your jobs or content ('Resources') on the site, and can also complement your recruitment campaigns, services or thought leadership.

Each tab allows you to very simply add new pages to your profile to demonstrate your organisation, values, people, CSR initiatives and employment brand. The tabs are:

  • About us:

In 'About us' create separate pages for your organisation profile detailing what you do, your vision & values, partnerships, acquisitions, history, location(s), client list, awards or testimonials

  • Our people:

Showcase people in your organisation, eg your recruitment team, management, recent joiners or your whole team. We recommend that each person profiled in this section should also register as an individual and complete their own detailed profile so they can be found by other users.

  • Corporate social responsibility:

Demonstrate that your organisation is values-led, progressive, and one of the best organisations to work for. Create separate CSR pages by detailing your organisation’s policies and initiatives, or any projects undertaken on subjects such as diversity & equal opportunity, volunteering, charity, community development, citizenship, environment & sustainability, work/life balance, social justice or health & wellbeing.

  • Employment brand & recruitment:

Position your organisation as an employer of choice. Create separate pages with video profiles of recent joiners, or case studies for 'a day in the life of'. Or detail your policies, schemes and programmes for internships, work experience, apprenticeships, graduates, induction, experienced hire recruitment, specialist recruitment, mentoring or coaching, training, learning & development, benefits, work/life balance, flexible working, maternity/paternity policies, diversity & equal opportunity, attraction & retention, alumni, awards and career opportunities.

How can I add content to 'Our Profile'?

Simply click on 'Add new page' in the sub-navigation of each of the four profile tabs (About us, Our people, Corporate social responsibility, Employment brand & recruitment).

Then follow these few steps:

  1. Create a 'Page title' for each new page.
  2. Write or cut & paste your text for the page into the ‘Content’ box.
  3. The wysiwyg functions allow you to format your text – we recommend that you use the formatting icons/tools to strip out any formatting if you have imported text from another document so that it displays clearly.
  4. To add video content simply paste the 'video embed code' (eg provided by YouTube) into the box provided.
  5. To attach a podcast simply paste a link to the file into the ‘video embed code’ box provided. Podcasts must be hosted remotely external to Changeboard.
